Stanwell Park 2009
Sunday 26 April 2009

Yet another fantastic run, actually I should say event!

I had attended the Harry's run the night before and went with Timmy in the HO, so after Harry's I stayed the night at the Macedon's.

Well an early start was the order of the day, Ollie giving us a wake up call so we could help prepare for the much anticipated run to Stanwell Park. We partly packed the trailer the night before and Terry came over to make sure he could tow the trailer, luckily so as we found we had to convert his older trailer electrical socket to a newer type so thanks to Timmy we got that sorted.

Dianne was the first to arrive giving a helping hand to Ollie and the girls, Melissa and Vinny. Terry then arrived, we packed the rest of the trailer, double checked everything and sent him on his way shortly after.

After Terry left Timmy and I washed the Black Seal (EB GT ), then Ollie, Dianne, Melissa and Vinny packed the Seal with all the food etcetera and set off for Stanwell Park.

Our attention then turned to washing Timmy's HO, wow it looked nice sparkling in the early morning sun. Timmy, Nicholas and myself then got ourselves ready, and we set off to the meeting point at Roselands.

We were a little bit behind schedule but sure enough we were greeted by a line of GT's waiting patiently and member's keen for the run to Stanwell Park.

All was good to go so we set off, picking up more member's along the way. We cruised through the National Park and what a sight it must have been. A bunch of beautiful GT's cruising through the picturesque National Park!

Shortly after arriving at Stanwell Park morning tea was served. Dianne's Chocolate Brownies a big hit - YUM! After morning tea the kid's played on the nearby playground, member's mingled while Terry, Naf, Todd and John were busy cooking up a feast on the barbeques. Thankyou to Frank, for kindly donating some of the meat too - good on you mate.

Lunch seemed to come around quickly, and the club sat down for a very well prepared lunch. What a spread of lovely food, no simple sausage sangers here it seems every club event we have four course meals.

After lunch some kicked the footy around, some went for a walk to the beach while the usual car related chit-chat and light hearted banter ensued and some, not mentioning names even fell asleep on the grass under the nice warm sun.

At the end of the day we had afternoon tea and all the member's gathered again and Frank and family were presented with the “Car of the Run”. What a top looking XB GT - congratulations!

Terry was presented a special gift for volunteering to tow the trailer and helping with the cooking duties - a big thanks to Terry.

The guys and gals who helped cook and prepare the food were given thanks also; Terry, Naf, Todd, John, and Ollie, Dianne, Melissa and Vinny...well done, what a well oiled unit we all are.

All the members in general were thanked, as they say "many hands make light work" and although no Committee members were able to attend the day turned out to be a huge success.

It's easy to see that club spirit is alive and well within The GT Club, so thanks to all the members who came to make this another truly enjoyable day, the smiles on everyone's faces proved that everyone had a great time with their extended family - The GT Club!

A special thank you must be extended to Ollie. What a truly wonderful woman, without her The GT Club just wouldn't be the same.

So cheers to The GT Club, and look forward to seeing everyone on the next run.

Toby - "The Polar Bear".
