Club Xmas Party 2008
Sunday 14th December 2008
Well guys, another magnificent Club event enjoyed by all.
Today our Christmas party hosted over 120 members and guests with over 60 cars in attendance. The day’s weather was pleasant if a little windy and the food and drink were flowing. The kids had a ball on the jumping castle and some had a game of good ole park cricket. We had a gorgeous assortment of club cars ranging GTHO’S in the form a couple of Phase3’s and a few Phase 2’s. Some awesome XT, XA, XB GT’s, Rhino’s, tributes and associate cars.
The highlight of the day was over 60 kids receiving their gifts from Santa who had a special sleigh today. The AN Racing XY Falcon of sponsor Sash Ninovic which has a genuine 700+ REAR WHEEL REINDEERS!!!! LOL!!!
What a ride for Santa, and what a surprise for the kiddies. Santa was waving from outside the windback sunroof with gifts tucked throughout the car. Thanks for the sleigh there Sash!
After the gift giving, a presentation was held where our valued sponsors were awarded a trophy thanking them for their valued support during the year. We also gave out trophies for cars of the run (for the various categories) and the following were deserving winners:
Best Australian GT : Toby (XW GT)
Best Fairmont GT: Donny (XY GT)
Best Tribute: Deano ( Black XY)
Best Associate: Tony (K code XY Fairmont)
Overall Best Car on the Day: Peter (Red pepper XA GT)
Raffles were drawn and once again thank you to our sponsors and members who so generously donated prizes to raise funds for our club.
A special mention to Frank from Wollongong, Frank generously donated the use of his refrigerated van for our use as a mobile cool room. Not only did Frank donate the use of the van and the fuel to run it, he also thru in a Christmas ham for our raffle as well as an assortment of Deli items for our lunch today. Thank you Frank and Heidi you are champion people and have great club spirit.
Also our Santa today – Terry, mate you are a deadset legend. You made a great Santa and didn’t stop all day assisting where you could.
Can’t miss making special mention that Fletch (and crew) from Classic Car Resto’s, made an appearance and an filmed an episode at our Christmas party. Some of our members were interviewed during the day. This episode will be screening on Christmas Eve 24th December. Awesome!!!
Overall this has to be one of the best events I have ever attended and I really have to thank my fellow committee, the Macedon family (for always putting in a first class effort) and lastly our awesome members. Our members are the club and everyone helped support the club with the raffles, cooking, cleaning duties and whatever help was required. It makes for a pleasurable experience for all.
We should be proud of ourselves and I look forward to enjoying many more events with my fellow GT Club members.
