Shannons Eastern Creek 2009
Sunday 23rd August 2009
Well, another great day out with the club.
Sun was shining, a little breeze was blowing and all was great for what turned out to be glorious August day out at Eastern Creek. We kicked off the morning meeting at Lonestar Chullora were I found the boys waiting with cars gleaming, and all of us ready to jump in our steeds and roar off on a nice crisp Sunday morning. We had a dozen odd cars in attendance with Tobe, Johnny & the boys set to meet us out at the venue.
I have to say some personal highlights for me was
1. To see president Rob cruising in old school muscle. The XB looked and went beaut!
2. I had my mate Mick take the XY for me today as I took 'Bill" to the show. All the cars looked fantastic and what a wonderful assortment we assembled to represent our 67-76 charter!
THE GT's lIVE ON! LOL!
Anyway after assembling our display and roping off, we all set back to relax and converse with other entrants and show goers. Our display proved very popular! As it appeared our club was the only one that made any effort to arrange ourselves in a format other than a row of parked cars! lol!
People came and went, good to see some other GT enthusiasts come and visit. Ken P you're a legend mate, loved chatting with you - there's a membership form with your name waiting lol! Billy M also came by to get an insightful lesson into the workmanship originally performed by FOMOCO on XB GT coupes and GT-HO's!!! Good to see you mate lol! Oh by the way - nice shirt!
Overall a nice day was had. I had the pleasure of being taken for a thrilling ride in Tony's "Grizzly" bear...the ole bear sure has some herbs under that hood! lol! The lap around EC was all too short or was that because we covered the ground too fast!!!
The day ended around mid arvo where everyone packed up, said their goodbye's and headed home. Rob, Tone, Tobe and myself ended up going for a run to the Gong for chicken burgers which was a treat! The chicken was fresh and I didn't have to drive lol!!! Hitched a ride with the president in his ripper XB GT coupe! What a car. A real Grand Tourer well deserving of the 'GT' moniker. Also special mention to Franko who met up with us for a yarn! Good to see you mate!
Anyway I'm tired, I'm knacked and I'm off to bed.
Thanks again to all that attended and looking forward to the next one.
Cheers,
Disco
P.S Top pix Deano & Norm!
