Wisemans Ferry
Sunday 19th October 2008

What an amazing day!!!!

Firstly we were blessed with the most perfect weather for OUR maiden GT Club Inc Run and a location that was second to  none - there was a photo at All Ford Day with our Club sign over Paul D's XA Coupe with the sun shining over it - let me say that the sun was
definitely shining on the GT Club Inc at Wisemans.

We met at the meeting point at 7.30am and it wasn't long before a steady stream of GT's and henry's finest muscle rumbled into the carpark - at a guess about 30-40 cars assembled at the meeting point - everyone I spoke to was 'pumped' for our first run. After handing out directions and a directions briefing we were off.

Despite best intentions some of the convoy made a wrong turn (partly due to Google Maps not being clear - apologies). We got to New Line road where another 10 cars were gleaming and waiting to join the group.  It was an awesome sight to look out the rear view mirror and see what seemed like an endless line GT's and Ford Muscle cars. This is what a GT run is all about - many motorists gave us the thumbs up as they saw this amazing procession of GT's coming down the road.

Arriving at Wiseman's we were greeted with Rob and Dave who had cordoned off the carpark for our  arrival - at the end of the carpark was a sight to behold -Ollie and Diane  with the Macedon girls in full swing - complete with three barbeques, back-up generator, gazebos, cool room and enough food to feed an army!!

Shortly afterwards the Central Coast Club joined us and the carpark was bursting at the seams with a kaleidoscope of Ford's of all models and colours - it felt like a mini All Ford Day!! Being our first main run we sought to build a relationship with other GT Clubs and it was great to have so many Central Coast Ford Club members join us on the day.

Food and drinks flowed all day - and the spread of food has never been rivaled at any run I have ever been on - feeding 200 people is no mean feat but thanks to the Macedon’s and particularly Ollie and Diane for running the event seamlessly. This was nothing short of a super effort and appreciated by all - HATS OFF TO YOU!!

We handed out some very well deserved awards in each category:

Best Tribute Car: Leo (XY GT Tribute)
Best SA GT: Brett (Fairmont GT)
Best Associate: '68 Mustang - California Special (Central Coast Club - apologies forgot the owners' name)
Best GT: Darren (XW GT)

Congratulations to our winners.

Rob M thanked the other club's attendance and all members for showing continued support in our young club. We drew the raffle that was very well supported (thanks Alf for leading the charge in selling the raffle tickets all day).

We were also fortunate to have our member no 351 Chris Bowden join us for his first Club run - I walked around and looked at the cars with Chris explaining some history of the cars and owners as we went - he was very impressed with the cars and particularly the attitude of our club and members - SOCIAL and RELAXED - the way it should be

Overall it was the best GT Run I have ever been on and speaking to a number of you, many of you felt the same way. Thanks to everyone that helped make this day a huge success and put our club on the map - particularly Rob and Disco - without you guys and your family's support the day would not have been possible.

Looking forward to many more runs with a Club that all of us can be proud of.

Cheers

Bob
